Port workers strike for wage increase Benapole

BENAPOLE: Port workers began an indefinite strike Sunday demanding implementation of the Government minimum wage for them explained.

Several thousand workers staged a demonstration in the port area and met their demand home press protest. Loading and unloading of the goods at the Benapole land port came to a halt because of the strike.

Benapole port handling workers' Union President Jahangir Alam Lal said that she will strike until is met by the port authorities.

Port observed workers strike for four days with the same demand last month. Moved their last strike, on June 7 in quality assurance of MP of the Jessore-1 Sheikh Afiluddin to their demand.

Because the workers June received wages at the previous rate for the month, they started the indefinite strike today.

Additional riot police were implemented at different times to avoid undesirable incidents.
